Highlights of the Experience
Mount Frankland Wilderness Lookout
Explore Mount Frankland, one of 7 national parks in the 360 000 hectare land that is 'Walpole Wilderness'. It's also one of 3 major sites that form the 'Walpole Wilderness Discovery Centre'. Enjoy a short 600m return leisurely stroll to the Wilderness Lookout where you are blessed with uninterrupted views of the Walpole Wilderness from high above the forest floor.
Witness the Deep River tumbling over the rocks through a number of lush pools set amongst a remote patch of native forest dominated by impressive karri, jarrah and tingle trees within Mount Frankland South National Park. The froth and bubbles of Fernhook Falls creates a peaceful serenity as walkers explore the walktrails and boardwalks. The mood of the Deep River at Fernhook Falls depends on the season. In winter, the water gushes furiously over the granite boulders creating a whitewash of froth. In summer, the flow is reduced to a trickle and Rowell’s Pool is a calm, tranquil place.
Swarbrick Art Trail
Discover the diversity of people's relationships with the Walpole Wilderness area through time via the Swarbrick Art Trail, another major site of the Walpole Wilderness Discovery Centre. Take a stroll through some of the states oldest karri forest, keeping an open mind as you explore the selection of art exhibits which have been designed to challenge your perception of wilderness.
Giant Tingle Tree
Walk beneath the site of a huge fire-hollowed red tingle tree, the Giant Tingle, the largest living eucalypt known in the world. With a diameter of 24 metres wide it really is a must do experience as you stand underneath looking up in awe of it's sheer grand beauty.
Valley of the Giants
Experience ancient beauty as you get up close and personal with 400 year old giants of the forest, walking high amongst the tree tops on the suspended walkway rising 40m from the ground below. The 600m walk gives you a birds eye view of some of the tallest timber giants on earth.
Follow the link walk trail down into the Ancient Empire, where a sealed trail meanders across the forest floor between 400 year old red tingle trees. Interpretative information along the trail tells you the story of the lost era of Gondwana.
Ducketts Mill Wines & Denmark Farmhouse Cheese
Wine and cheese, they go together and complement each other perfectly so our lunch stop is at the 4 ½ Star winery Ducketts Mill which is set in the picturesque Scotsdale Valley of Denmark. Sample Artisan wines made from the rich soils of Duckett’s Mill vineyard, tasty hand made cheese, farmhouse preserves and now its tantalising fudge.
Visit and experience mead, varietal honeys and honey ice cream at the internationally known and awarded Bartholomews Meadery. One of the few meaderies in Australia, it is a must see destination offering tastings, samples and the chance to see a glass beehive where you can spot the queen bee herself at work. Visiting the Meadery is a taste, sight and smell sensation!
Green's Pool & Elephant Rocks
Explore two of the main attractions in William Bay National Park, Green's Pool and Elephant Cove where you will marvel at the natural beauty of Elephant Rocks, round-topped granite rocks which look exactly like a herd of elephants, paddling in the shallow waters of the cove. Greens Pool is regarded as one of Western Australia’s most tranquil and beautiful beaches attracting visitors from all over the world with it's pure white beaches and calm, crystal clear water encircled by a protective barrier of rocks, making it an ideal swimming spot.

Hi Chelle, I just wanted to write a quick msg to let you know how awesome it has been going on your group hikes. I have always wanted to do something in the outdoors which involved both weight loss and mental healing. I have slowly found something that has helped me establish who i am as a person as it has given me the clarity i been looking for, to find myself as a person. And I love myself for it! Thank you for creating such a great team environment for all fitness level, people that love to be one with nature, and for people that just need that time to find what they need You rock!
I joined the New Moon walk tonight at the Zigzag and had a great time. A short enough walk to do not being fit but long enough to get a workout. Amazing scenery and the end of hot tea and singing bowls was lovely. Highly recommend as a doable experience that is affordable and not hard for a usually sedentary person to achieve. Chelle and Dave were great hosts that have great experience to offer.

I highly recommend the 1 day tour to Perth Waterfalls with Chelle at DownUnderDiscover. As a foreign it was a pleasure to met a local with such sound knowledge of WA nature and the outdoors experiences. I enjoyed and learned a lot on this tour and the waterfalls were spectaculars. The tour is very well thought, and runs smoothly through the day with a great attention. We have time to ask questions, enjoy the walks without rushing and spend a wonderful day. For sure I will come back for another hike/outdoors experience.

We had a wonderful morning on the recent Zig Zag Flora, Fauna & History Tour. There was an abundance of wildflowers to discover, learn about and photograph. Learning the history of the Zig Zag and early settlers was very interesting and gave us a new appreciation of the area. Our guides were very friendly, knowledgeable and provided a great morning tea. Thank you for an excellent event.

We had a beautiful evening walk with Chelle. The moon didn't quite make it through the clouds, but the energy was exquisite, and the guide, and company, lovely. Thoroughly recommend this experience, and I can't wait to try others, such as the New Moon walk.

Great walking tour in the hills. Loved the very knowledgeable Ken who walked us through the amazing flowers of the region. Highly recommended. Oooh and such a yummy lemon myrtle cake too.

Mothers day Hike was for my daughter and I our first venture on to the Bibbulmun Track. From the start Chelle and her family crew made us feel very welcome. The Hike was relaxed and at a speed suitable for all ages .Chelle very informative about the trail and the surrounding plants and trees. Midway homemade scones and tea was a welcome break in the midst of beautiful tranquil surroundings. The mothers day flowers and chocolates at the end was also lovely surprise. We will definately be booking more hikes with Down Under Discoveries.

Fantastic hike, no pressure to rush. I absolutely loved the meditative forest immersion moment. Yummo handmade bushtucker morning tea was a real treat. The morning started off quite crisp and cool but brightened to a warm, clear day. Chelle, our guide is really knowledgeable but warm, approachable and has great people skills. When I can afford another hike, hopefully a night one, will definitely be choosing this lovely family run business.
